The Press Complaints Commission has investigated whether an article published on The Daily Telegraph website under the headline “Man cut off own head with chainsaw”, contained excessive detail about the method of suicide used in breach of Clause 5 (Intrusion into grief or shock) of the Code.

Ms Muddassar Arani complained to the PCC through Arani & Co. Solicitors of Southall that a number of articles – published variously in the Daily Express, the Sun, the Daily Mail and The Daily Telegraph and on their websites – contained inaccurate and misleading information in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Code of Practice.

The Hon. Nicholas Soames MP complained that a photograph published in The Argus on 7 January 2008 to illustrate an article headlined 'Error or personal freedom?' was intrusive in breach of Clause 6 (Children) of the Code.

Dr David Hoile of the European Sudanese Public Affairs Council complained to the Press Complaints Commission that two articles published in The Daily Telegraph on 3 August 2007 and 1 September 2007, headlined 'What makes Brown think UN can fix Darfur?' and 'Brown and Sarkozy vow to bring peace to Darfur' respectively, and an article published in The Sunday Telegraph on 2 September 2007 headlined 'Aid staff are caught in Darfur crossfire' were inaccurate and misleading in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Code of Practice.
