Guidance notes to editors The PCC has issued a range of guidance notes for editors, which are intended to provide assistance on various aspects of the Code of Practice. Editors are always welcome to contact the PCC in advance of publication, for confidential advice on any Code issues around a particular story. This advice service is proving increasingly popular with both newspaper and magazine editors, and can help to minimise the possibility of a PCC complaint at a later date. Please call 020 7831 0022 during office hours and ask to speak to one of the complaints officers. Outside office hours, we can be reached on 07659 152 656, though please note that this number should be used only in emergencies. Further guidance on how the PCC interprets the Code of Practice is available in the recently-updated Editors' Codebook, published by the Editors' Code of Practice Committee. The PCC regularly carries out training sessions for editors and journalists on an ongoing basis. To find out more about this work, please click here.
