Complainant Name:
J A Jowett, on behalf of his son

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Sunday Mirror

J A Jowett of Co Londonderry complained, on behalf of his son, that an article about the latter was inaccurate in stating that he had been charged with heroin smuggling in Pakistan. In fact, his son had no connection to drugs at all and had been arrested simply for a visa infringement.

The newspaper wrote personally to the complainant and to his son to apologise for the error. It also published a correction and apology in its pages to set the record straight, expressing at the same time regret for the delay in publication.

Report: 61
