David Tucker of Portsmouth complained that an article of 7 April 2003 was inaccurate in suggesting that an estimated 250,000 people had died in the bombing of Dresden during World War II it had been accepted in the High Court that the figure was approximately 25,000. David Tucker also argued that it was misleading to suggest that those bombings constituted a war crime.

The newspaper published an acknowledgement on 7 August 2003 that the official estimated death toll for the Dresden bombings of 1945 was closer to 25,000 than 250,000.
