Dr Nick Palmer, MP

Publication: Daily Mail

Dr Nick Palmer, MP for Broxtowe and a Trustee of the House of Commons Pension Fund, complained that an article had inaccurately referred to the pension schemes for MPs, especially by suggesting that they could receive a pension of 60,000. In fact, such a figure would almost never happen: as MPs acquire pensions rights at 1/40 of salary for every year of service, a Commons career of 10 years would produce a pension of around 14,000.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published a letter from the complainant.
