Complainant Name:
Mr J J Robertson

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Sunday Telegraph

Complaint:
Mr J J Robertson of Cyprus complained that an article contained inaccurate references to his brother, Alexander Trocchi, having been imprisoned in America and having spent time ‘in the gutter’. He also complained that the piece made demeaning and false remarks about his father.

Resolution:
The matter was resolved when the newspaper published a correction acknowledging that Alexander Trocchi had not spent time in prison – although he had been arrested in the US – and had not lived rough on the streets – although he had spent years eking out a precarious hand to mouth existence. The newspaper apologised for any embarrassment caused.

Report: 64
