The BBC complained, through its litigation department, that the newspaper had inaccurately suggested that it had employed GPC International to provide strategic advice on, among other things, issues surrounding privatisation and the licence fee. The BBC provided evidence to the contrary, including a letter from GPC making clear that it was contracted only to provide parliamentary monitoring services and offered no strategic advice.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper which had based its article on two confidential sources published a correction.
