Complainant Name:
Mr Barry Williams

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Times

Mr Barry Williams of Stourbridge complained that the newspaper had inaccurately suggested that he and his partner Mr Brian Watts had argued on the evening in which Mr Watts jumped from a cliff and that the incident had been caused by a lovers tiff. The complainant provided a Statutory Declaration to the newspaper having had to engage in previous correspondence on the subject that affirmed that the story was inaccurate and that explained differently about the incident.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper accepted that its story was at variance with the facts and apologised to the complainant.
