Complainant Name:
Mrs Angharad Lynch

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Sunday Times

Mrs Angharad Lynch, Communications Manager of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, complained that an article had stated that six workers who had been used to plant three trees on a green in Sheldon, Birmingham were employed by Solihull Council. In fact, they were contractors employed by Birmingham City Council on a fixed price basis. This error was repeated in the newspaper on a subsequent occasion, despite it having been warned in advance as to the inaccuracy.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper indicated that it had published a correction in regard to the initial inaccuracy. However, its databases had not been amended to prevent republication. It therefore published a second correction and ensured that the databases were amended.
