Complainant Name:
Mr Christopher Parker, through his solicitors The Simkins Partnership

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Sunday Sport

Mr Christopher Parker, an actor in a television soap, complained through his solicitors The Simkins Partnership that the newspaper had inaccurately suggested that he had exchanged sex-texts with a glamour model. Mr Parker made clear that he had never met or had any sort of relationship with the woman in question.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper offered to publish a correction and apology on page three. In fact, the text was eventually published on page two (which the newspaper contended was in a prominent place, given the layout of that edition). The complainant, while expressing concern that the terms of the proposed agreement had not been precisely fulfilled, considered that the publication of the apology nonetheless resolved the complaint.
