Mrs Peggy W Adams of Sporle complained that an article was inaccurate in stating that the author Elizabeth Gaskell had ended her days living in Rome with a younger lover.

The newspaper explained that the question of whether Mrs Gaskell had a young lover in Rome was a matter of academic debate. However, it acknowledged that she had, in fact, spent her final years in England and had died in Hampshire on this point it agreed to tag its library files so that the error would not reappear.
