Complainant Name:
Kirsty Wark

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

The television presenter Kirsty Wark complained about the accuracy of three separate articles. Regarding the first article, she contended that it was incorrect for the newspaper to have claimed that she had been paid almost £13,000 by the London Development Agency. Regarding the second, she made clear that the newspaper’s list of potential invitees to her birthday party was entirely incorrect. Finally, she denied that she had ever been given a ‘dressing down’ by senior BBC executives, as claimed by the newspaper.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper – which sought also to demonstrate the grounds for its claims – gave a £500 donation to the Kelbourne School for the Disabled and undertook to annotate its records with the complainant’s denial about having been given a ‘dressing down’ so as to avoid repetition in future.
