Complainant Name:
Ms Anne Atkins

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Independent

Ms Anne Atkins of Oxford complained that she had responded to some questions from a journalist and that her comments had subsequently appeared under her by-line. She was concerned that readers would have been misled into thinking that she penned the piece herself. She contended that some of the words were not even her own.

The newspaper agreed to tag its archives and amend its website in order to reflect the complainants concern that, although she had made the central comments on which the article was based, she did not author it directly.
