Complainant Name:
Mr B G Doughty

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mirror

Mr B G Doughty complained that an article about the funeral of his partners son was inaccurate. It was written from the point of view of his partners daughter-in-law and, he said, made false claims about the behaviour of his partner at the funeral and about the relationship between the family members. He also said a photo used did not, as claimed, show his partner Theresa Casey but depicted her mother.

The matter was resolved when the newspaper ran a correction on the point about the photo and reiterated Theresa Caseys denial of the claims made by her daughter-in-law. It noted Ms Caseys position that she had an excellent relationship with her son and his family, seeing them at least once or twice a year.
