Publication: Loughborough Echo

A man complained that the newspaper had intrusively referred to him as a recovering alcoholic. The newspaper had not sought his consent before identifying him in this way.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper which made clear that it had published the information in good faith, but accepted that it was wrong to have done so without contacting the complainant before publication wrote a personal letter of apology to the complainant and offered to publish an apology as well.
