Ms Katherine Russell Tait, the daughter of Bertrand Russell, complained that a reader’s letter had contained an inaccurate and apparently unchecked anecdote about her behaviour as a school-child.

The complaint was resolved when the magazine published the following correction: “Further to a reader’s letter on the subject of Bertrand Russell, we have been asked by Katharine Russell Tait to make clear her absolute denial that – as a young girl – she leant out of a window, spat at a new teacher at the school and shouted ‘there is no God’.”
