Complainant Name:
Mrs Linda Caddell

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: County Down Spectator

Mrs Linda Caddell of Bangor complained about an article which reported the dismissal of a court case in which she had been accused of causing actual bodily harm to her neighbour. She made the following specific points: that the incident did not take place in Sunningdale Park, it took place at a relatives home; her accuser was not her neighbour; and at no time did her accuser ask her to lower the volume of her music.

The editor said he had spoken to the reporter concerned accepting that he had failed to meet the standards required of him. The complaint was resolved when the editor wrote a private letter of apology to the complainant.
