Mrs Linda Caddell

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: County Down Spectator

Complaint:

Mrs Linda Caddell of Bangor complained about an article which reported the dismissal of a court case in which she had been accused of causing actual bodily harm to her ‘neighbour’. She made the following specific points: that the incident did not take place in Sunningdale Park, it took place at a relative’s home; her accuser was not her neighbour; and at no time did her accuser ask her to lower the volume of her music.

Resolution:

The editor said he had spoken to the reporter concerned accepting that he had failed to meet the standards required of him. The complaint was resolved when the editor wrote a private letter of apology to the complainant.

Report: 74
