Complainant Name:
Edinburgh City FC

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Scottish Daily Mirror

Complaint:

Mr Terry May, Chairman of Edinburgh City Football Club, complained that an article was inaccurate when it stated that the club was seeking to oppose the smoking ban in Scotland at the Court of Session.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following correction:
'In our article "No to ban" of March 8 2006, we incorrectly stated (accompanied by a picture of their logo) that Edinburgh City Football Club were trying to oppose the smoking ban in Scotland at the Court of Session. In fact, legal action is being taken by Edinburgh Football Club Limited, a social club, which is an entirely different organisation to the soccer club'.
