Complainant Name:
A woman

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Leamington Spa Courier

A woman complained that an article had inaccurately set out that her son was still in prison. She also contended that, despite a court order that he should not be identified in the press, the newspaper had included a blacked out silhouette of her son.

The complaint was resolved when newspaper apologised for the error regarding the issue of whether the complainants son was still serving a sentence, and offered to publish a clarification. It also contended that the silhouette had been used for illustrative purposes, and was not taken from the complainants sons file. The complainant accepted the apology and explained that she did not wish anything further to be published.
