Mr Bernard Hogan-Howe, the Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, complained that the newspaper had inaccurately implied that Merseyside police officers were performing dangerous driving stunts in front of young people.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following letter:

Your article "Law Brakers" (22nd October) said that Police Officers were performing dangerous stunts in front of youngsters on Merseyside. I would ask you to make clear that the footage in question was in fact of a Greater Manchester Police car being used during a training exercise and nothing to do with Merseyside Police. The quotes used in the article, from those who provided the footage, also implied that the footage was of serving police officers behaving unprofessionally, which was not the case.
