Complainant Name:
Mrs Jean Weeks

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Times Educational Supplement

Complaint:

Mrs Jean Weeks complained that an article – and subsequent correction which was negotiated through the PCC – about her dispute with FitzWimarc School was inaccurate and misleading.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following letter from the complainant:

"Further to your articles on my dispute with FitzWimarc School, I would like to point out that the matter was settled by mediation exclusively in my favour and that this reflected an acceptance by the three paying parties – the DfES, Essex LEA and the school’s governors – that each of their cases was unlikely to succeed in court. It was also agreed by all parties that the role taken by Mr Fuller, the headteacher, could be investigated after mediation."

Report: 74
