Complainant Name:
Mr A G Eden

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Sunday Mirror

Mr A G Eden complained that an article inaccurately stated that Paul Collingwoods double century against Australia was the first by an Englishman abroad since Walter Hammond in 1937. In fact, he said, Hammond had scored his double century against Australia in the 1928-9 series.

The newspaper sent a copy of the scorecard from the Sydney test of the 1936-7 series, which showed Walter Hammond had indeed scored a double century in addition to the one he had scored in the 1928-9 series. The complainant was happy to stand corrected.
