Complainant Name:
Ms Sue Young

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Complaint:

Ms Sue Young, Policy Adviser at the Architects Registration Board (ARB), complained that a series of articles were inaccurate when they referred to Anthony De Boise – who was convicted of sexual assault – as an “architect”. The complainant explained that Mr De Boise had not registered with the ARB, the statutory regulator of architects in the UK (www.arb.org.uk), and that the term “architect” could only lawfully be applied to those who had.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper made clear that a note had been appended to its internal records on the issue and that it would redouble its efforts to ensure that Mr De Boise was not referred to as an architect in the future.

Report: 74
