Mr Simon Crowhurst

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Sunday Times

Mr Simon Crowhurst of Cambridge complained that the headline to an article which reported an interview he had given about his fathers tragic attempt to sail around the world was inaccurate and insensitive.

The newspaper wrote to the complainant directly and offered to publish the following apology:

Correction: An interview with Simon Crowhurst, son of yachtsman Donald Crowhurst, (News Review, Dec 31) was wrongly headlined My father was hell bent on his voyage into madness: nothing could have stopped him. Mr Crowhurst made no such comment about his father and we apologise for any distress caused.

The complaint was resolved on this basis.
