Complainant Name:
Mrs M Turner

Clauses Noted: 3

Publication: Lancashire Telegraph

Mrs M Turner complained that the newspaper continued to name her when covering unrelated stories about her ex-husband, who had a conviction for assaulting her. She also raised concerns that the article inaccurately referred to her children as belonging to both her and her ex-husband.

The newspaper agreed with the complainant that there was no need to mention the complainants name or her children in future stories about her ex-husband. The editor gave an undertaking that he would only approve the inclusion of these details if the circumstances changed and her name became a justifiably relevant part of any story.
