Complainant Name:
Thames Valley Police

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Complaint:

Tim Prince complained on behalf of the Thames Valley Police Headquarters that an article had inaccurately claimed that Thames Valley Police had 254 officers on medically restricted or part-time duties. The complainant said this figure in fact related to those officers in non-frontline duties for medical reasons such as pregnancy or long term illness who were all working their full contracted hours. The true figure for Thames Valley Police officers working medically restricted duties was 16.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published a letter from the complainant correcting the point and wrote a private letter of apology acknowledging the mistake.

Report: 74
