Complainant Name:
Andrew Malone

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Blackpool Gazette

Andrew Malone of Lancashire complained that the newspaper had published the names of his sixteen-year-old son and his friend after they were victims of an attack.

The newspaper made clear that there were no restrictions placed by the court on naming the complainants son and his friend. That said, the newspaper could understand the complainants concerns and apologised for the distress caused to him and his family. In addition, the newspaper removed the article from its website and wrote private letters of apology to the boys involved. The complaint was resolved on that basis.
