Mr David Burke, Chairman of the Newcastle Ravens Rugby Club, complained that an article about his team was inaccurate in suggesting that the side was finding it difficult to arrange fixtures. He also said that he had not made the comments attributed to him in the article.

The matter was resolved when the newspaper published a letter from the complainant which read:

Your article about Newcastle Ravens gay rugby team (March 31) has jeopardised all the hard work to break down barriers and remove stereotypes associated with the gay community. I didnt make any of the comments used, our team has not been "snubbed" nor is "desperate for matches" and we do not think local teams are "scared of us". In fact, the response from them has been fantastic with several welcoming us to use their facilities and joining their training sessions.
