Complainant Name:
Dr C L Leci

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Sunday Telegraph

Complaint:

Dr C L Leci of Edgware complained that a short summary of world affairs was inaccurate when it stated that, in the previous week, “Israeli police clashed with Muslims protesting about an archaeological dig at the al-Aqsa mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites”.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following letter from the complainant:

“It was misleading for you to say that Israeli police in Jerusalem ‘clashed with Muslims protesting about an archaeological dig at the al-Aqsa mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites’ (That was the week that was, February 11). No dig took place at the mosque that week. It was south west of the Western Wall, not even on Temple Mount plateau, and is not an Islamic holy site”.

Report: 75
