Jim Gales MBE of Cupar complained that an article which claimed that he had been kicked out of the Scottish Blind Golf Society for alleged fraud contained a number of inaccuracies.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following text:

Further to our article in issue 24 headlined "Blind Golfer Booted Out By Society Bosses", we have been asked by Mr Jim Gales - following a formal complaint to the Press Complaints Commission - to outline his position. Mr Gales claims: that allegations of "fraud" or "pilfering" have never been substantiated by the provision of any evidence in the form of financial statements, audited accounts or receipts despite requests by Mr Gales and his legal representative: that SportScotland and the R&A investigated the allegation that Mr Gales "pocketed" SportScotland funding for his own benefit" and found that no action was necessary as such awards were correctly administered and made to an individual not a group and that they consider the matter closed: that the Scottish Blind Golf Society Directors were fully aware and supported such grant applications: that Mr Gales was not forced to resign over this matter but rather stepped down as Secretary and Director of the SBGS on 15 April 2005: that Mr Gales was not the sole "architect" of any SBGS documents; and that the Vision Impaired Golfers Group is a social and voluntary group which requires no recognition from the R&A and does not provide or generate personal sponsorship for any individual. We apologise for any inconvenience or embarrassment caused to Mr Gales or the funding administrators involved.
