Complainant Name:
Mr Patrick Harrington

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Sunday Mail

Complaint:

Mr Patrick Harrington complained that an article which focused on his estranged wife contained inaccuracies in relation to him.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following letter from the complainant in addition to linking it to the original article on its website:

“In response to your article of 22 April, I would like to make clear that I separated from my wife Jacqueline Sharp two years ago and we are currently undergoing divorce proceedings. I have no knowledge of the allegations made against her by former boyfriend, Mark Stewart, and I do not possess any of his property. The interdict I raised against Mr Stewart is quite separate from any action by Ms Sharp. Finally, I am self-employed and I deny the claim that I am a "racist activist", having rejected social injustice in all its forms”
