Complainant Name:
Mr C Frank Lockyear

Clauses Noted: 1, 5

Publication: The Daily Telegraph

Complaint:

Mr C Frank Lockyer complained that the newspaper’s obituary of his daughter, Sally Clark, was inaccurate and insensitive. In particular, he was concerned about what he considered to be the disproportionate and exaggerated emphasis on claims about her drinking.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper, which indicated that the article had been based on material in the public domain, annotated its records to reflect the complainant’s concerns for future reference. While this action did not entirely satisfy the complainant, he accepted the complaint as resolved on that basis.

Report: 75
