Ms Jane Barham

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Horse and Hound

Jane Barham of Northamptonshire complained that the published version of a letter she had submitted for publication a tribute to Yvonne Gosss horse Perrys Pearl in light of his retirement included a sentence which had been inserted by the magazine.

The magazine accepted that it should have used brackets to denote the editorial insertion to the complainants letter. The complaint was resolved when the magazine published the following clarification and apology to the complainant:

'Further to a letter published on 19 July from Jane Barham in which she paid tribute to Perrys Pearl and his rider Yvonne Goss, we would like to make clear that the reference to the Perrys poor conformation was an editorial insertion and did not form part of the letter submitted by Ms Barham. We apologise to Ms Barham for any distress that this may have caused'.
