Mr Lawrence Brewer of Worcestershire complained that three articles on immigration contained inaccuracies.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper following the complainants acceptance that the sub-headline for a 22 August article (One in six Eastern Europeans now living off the state) was qualified in the body of the article by means of the words to some extent published the following letter from the complainant:

Your 5 July 2007 article of said that the majority of Polish migrants arriving in Britain planned to stay permanently. In fact the survey you quoted said that only 10% wished to settle in Britain. 45% planned to leave within four years, 45% planned to stay at least five years and a researchers suggestion that those who stay for more than 5 years are likely to stay for good is conjecture. Following your 17 July article I would like to point out that the number of immigrants to rural England trebled between 2002/3 and 2005/6.
