Mrs Joanna Rhodes

Publication: Daily Express

Mrs Joanna Rhodes of Cornwall complained that an article reporting her husbands death had inaccurately suggested that he had committed suicide the day after seeing their babys scan. The complainant provided a dated copy of the scan to support her position on the matter.

The newspaper apologised to the complainant explaining that the factual inaccuracy had originated with the news agency sent to cover the inquest. The newspaper wrote a private letter of apology to the complainant and offered to publish an apology in the newspaper. The complainant said that she did not wish for anything further to be published but was pleased that the newspaper had made such an offer.
