Complainant Name:
Mrs Karen Elton

Clauses Noted: 1, 3

Publication: Daily Mail

Mrs Karen Elton complained that an article which sought to detail the circumstances of a dispute over church bell ringing contained a number of inaccuracies. In addition, the complainant was concerned that the newspaper had used correspondence in the story which she considered to be private and included a photograph of her husband which was taken in their driveway where she believed he had a reasonable expectation of privacy without consent.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper removed the entire article from its website, destroyed all the photographs it held on its database in relation to the matter and wrote a private letter of apology to the complainant for any distress caused.

Report: 76
