Complainant Name:
Mr David Manning

Clauses Noted: 1, 3

Publication: Daily Mirror

Mr David Manning of Bristol complained that an article about him and his partner, written from the perspective of his partners mother, was inaccurate; particularly in relation to a statement that his partner had run away to his house and had subsequently been tracked down by the police. Mr Manning also contended that the article intruded into his privacy.

The newspaper defended the article but the matter was resolved when it agreed to remove the piece from its website and to request that it also be removed from databases with which it had reciprocal arrangements. In addition, the newspaper marked its library files with a note setting out the complainants concerns.
