Complainant Name:
Ms Kerry Katona

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Now

Complaint:

Kerry Katona complained through Max Clifford Associates Ltd about inaccuracies in two articles published in the magazine. The complainant strongly disputed the following claims in the magazine: that she had taken drugs in the last year; that she had never got over her first husband and was shaken over his engagement; that she was unhappy in her second marriage; that she was a habitual liar; that she left her children with a nanny for two weeks; that she treated her husbandís daughter differently from her own children; and that she was on the verge of bankruptcy.

Resolution:

The magazine emphasised that the information under dispute had been obtained from confidential sources. However, the magazine emphasised that it regarded the right of reply as extremely important and it agreed, therefore, to publish the following letter from Ms Katona in which she denied the claims:

Thank you for allowing me to respond to the articles published in December. For the record I am drug free and have medical reports to prove this. I admitted to taking cocaine over 4 years ago at my lowest ebb and I have been persecuted ever since.

I am happily married to Mark Croft and despite reports I am truly happy that Brian and Delta are getting married. Relationships end, but I have moved on with my life as has Brian and we have two amazing little girls from the relationship. To suggest otherwise is hurtful and untrue. I am a committed working mother and my children who I adore are my life. Stories that I abandon them and I ignore Keeley are simply untrue.

Kerry Katona.

The complaint was resolved on that basis.
