Kerry Katona

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Reveal Magazine

Kerry Katona complained through Max Clifford Associates Ltd about an article which suggested that she had been critical of her former husbands recent engagement. The complainant disputed the following claims in the magazine: that she believed he had proposed only to gain an advantage in the custody battle over their children; that she could not stand his fiancée; and that she could not accept their happiness together.

The magazine emphasised that the information under dispute had been obtained from a confidential source. However, the magazine agreed to publish the following letter from the complainant to give her the opportunity to deny the claims:

Thank you for allowing me to respond to the article published in December. For the record I am drug free and have medical reports to prove this. I admitted to taking cocaine over 4 years ago at my lowest ebb and I have been accused of taking it ever since.

I am truly happy that Brian and Delta are getting married and I do not believe and have never said that the reason Brian proposed to Delta was to gain custody of our children.

Relationships end, I have moved on with my life as has Brian and we have two amazing little girls from the relationship. To suggest otherwise is hurtful and untrue. I am a committed mother and my children are my life. Kerry Katona

The complaint was resolved on that basis.
