Complainant Name:
Mr Nigel Jordan

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Sun

Mr Nigel Jordan complained, through Russell Jones and Walker solicitors, that the newspaper inaccurately suggested that he had received copies of emails, in March 2007, about the decision to send the entire database of child benefits to London from the North East.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following apology:

We reported on November 24 Nigel Jordan, a senior civil servant at HM Revenue & Customs, received copies of emails about the decision to send discs containing private information of 25 million people from Tyneside to London which were later lost. In fact, Mr Jordan received a copy of one email which made no reference to sending data. We apologise for the error.
