Complainant Name:
A man

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mirror

Complaint:

A man complained that an article had inaccurately reported on a protest he had made during a church service to mark the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery. He had not, he said, ‘burst’ into the aisle; nor had he ‘run’ to the front of the church. Moreover, it was inaccurate to describe him as a ‘long-standing campaigner for slave trade reparations’.

Resolution:

The newspaper maintained that its description of the complainant’s protest was accurate. However, it agreed to remove the reference to the complainant being a ‘long-standing campaigner for slave trade reparations’ from its website.

Report: 77
