Complainant Name:
A woman

Clauses Noted: 1, 3

Publication: Sunday Express

Complaint:

A woman complained that an article about her ex-husband – a drug addict – had contained inaccuracies and had intruded to her private life, and that of her son. The complainant said that her ex-husband’s implication that she had not stood by him was false. She was also concerned over the publication of photographs, one of which had incorrectly claimed to depict her son.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper removed the article from its website, annotated its internal records with the points of the complaint and circulated a warning to all journalists in the group. These measures prevented republication of the photographs and content of the article.
