Mr Tom Hoskin, Head of News for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, complained, on behalf of Lord Malloch-Brown, that the newspaper had inaccurately suggested that Lord Malloch-Brown demanded that armed police be posted outside his home at Admiralty House, Whitehall.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following apology:

Last week we wrongly reported that Foreign Office Minister Lord Malloch-Brown had demanded a 24-hour armed police guard outside Admiralty House where he has an apartment. We accept his assurance that this is not the case and apologise to him for suggesting otherwise.
