Complainant Name:
Mr Nigel Jordan

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Express

Mr Nigel Jordan complained, through Russell Jones and Walker solicitors, that the newspaper inaccurately suggested that he had been told, in March 2007, of plans to send the entire database of child benefits to London from the North East.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following apology:

Our November 24, 2007 article headed Gay scandal of the man in charge stated that Mr Jordan, a civil servant at HM Revenue & Customs, was told of plans to send the entire database of child benefit claimants to the National Audit Office in London. We now accept that this was incorrect. Mr Jordan did not sanction the release of data by an insecure method, either in March 2007 or October 2007. We apologise to him for this inaccuracy.
