Michelle Hunter of Great Sankey complained about an article which reported on claims that she had received offensive emails from former friend Kerry Katona. The complainant said that the information for the article which, in any case, contained inaccuracies had been obtained from her private emails and had been published without her knowledge. She also complained that the magazine had published a photograph of a woman to accompany the article which it inaccurately claimed to be her.

The magazine sought to explain that it had been under the mistaken impression that the offensive emails had been obtained from the complainant and, had it been aware of the true circumstances, it would not have made any reference to them. The complainant accepted the magazines offer to publish an apology and correction as a resolution to her complaint. The wording for the apology was as follows:

Our issue of 21 January contained an article about hurtful emails sent by Kerry Katona to two of her former friends, Michelle Hunter and Joanne Goodier. We should point out that Michelle Hunter and Miss Goodier received no payment for this article: indeed, they did not speak to Now about the emails. The photograph we published was not Miss Hunter, as described, but a third party. We are happy to set the record straight and are sorry for any embarrassment or distress caused.
