Publication: The Sun

Ms Tracy Clarke complained that the newspaper had inaccurately suggested that she had been a lover of Chief Constable Michael Todd, and had fallen out with him because he refused to leave his wife.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper, which had based its article on an earlier story in a different newspaper (about which there had been no complaint) published the following letter:

Your report of my relationship with Michael Todd (March 17) incorrectly stated we had fallen out because he refused to leave his wife. In fact, we were close friends who enjoyed a good relationship until the time of his death.
