Philip Bradbourn OBE MEP

Publication: News of the World

Philip Bradbourn OBE MEP complained that an article about fact finding freebies for MEPs had inaccurately claimed that he had enjoyed a visit to Table Mountain and a wine tour whilst in South Africa on an EU business trip. He clarified that he had not taken part in the section of the programme referred to and provided documentary evidence his air reservations to support his position.

The newspaper accepted that the complainant had not participated in the programme and apologised to the complainant. The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following apology:

Contrary to the claim in our article "EU blows millions on fact finding freebies for MEPs" (18.5.08), Philip Bradbourn MEP did not visit Table Mountain or a wine estate during a South Africa trip. We apologise for any embarrassment.
