Complainant Name:
Ms Holly Willoughby

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Complaint:

Ms Holly Willoughby complained, through Swan Turton solicitors, that she was misquoted in an interview. In particular, she denied that she said, in response to a statement that Simon Cowell was a “Svengali” figure: “I didn’t know he was from Svengali. Is that in Africa?”.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper removed the article from its website. It accepted that there was a conflict between the journalist and Ms Willoughby on the question of the “Svengali” quotation, and that Ms Willoughby denied making the remark which was not recorded on the interview tapes.

Report: 77
