Mrs D E Carver of Dorset complained that an article which reported the tragic death of her sister, Jackie Timmins, in New York intruded into her family’s grief.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper apologised privately to the family, removed the article from its website, made a donation to the British Institute for Brain Injured Children and published the following apology:

“Our report into the deaths in New York of Jackie Timmins, 47 and Andrew Hardie, 48, both of Yeovil, Somerset, on February 15 contained some details which were insensitive. We apologise to the victims’ family and friends for the distress caused”.
