Complainant Name:
Healthcare for London

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Sunday Mirror

Don Neame, Director of Communications for Healthcare for London, complained that an article reporting on a consultation exercise being carried out by the organisation contained inaccuracies.

The newspaper published the following clarification:

Following our article of 24 February about Healthcare for London, which stated that the Department of Health is blowing £15 million on a survey to find out what people think of the NHS, we wish to clarify that £1 million was spent on theconsultation and therewere 4,700 replies. The PCTs which run Healthcare for London will be spending a further £14 million on advice and implementation of the recommendations of the consultation. We have been informed that a pilot schemefor stroke care is already saving lives and senior clinicians believe that over 1, 000 lives a year could be saved if just two of the recommendations are implemented in full.

The newspaper also annotated it records to reflect that the Primary Care Trusts, rather than Lord Darzi, were responsible for running the organisation. The complaint was resolved on that basis.
